Privacy policy

GridComfort is a static reference website. It has no accounts, no logins, no comment system, no newsletter and no forms, so it asks you for no personal information and stores none about you. The site's own code sets no cookies. What follows covers the third-party services that do run on it, and the advertising technology that would run on it if advertising is switched on.

Analytics — in use today

The site uses Google Analytics 4 to see, in aggregate, which pages and calculators people use. Google Analytics sets its own cookies and processes visit data — including your IP address, browser and the pages you view — as described in Google's privacy policy. Its script is loaded only after the page has finished rendering, so it never delays the content. We use it to decide what to write next; we do not use it to identify individual visitors, and we do not sell or share the data.

You can opt out of Google Analytics in any browser with Google's opt-out add-on.

The site may also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookie-less measurement service that does not track visitors across sites.

Advertising — not currently running

As of the date at the top of this page, GridComfort shows no advertising. No ad network code runs on the site and no advertising cookies are set by it. This section describes what would apply if advertising is enabled, so that it is disclosed before anything changes rather than after.

GridComfort may use Google AdSense to display advertising. If it does:

• Google, as a third-party vendor, may use cookies to serve ads on this site.
• Google's use of advertising cookies — including the DoubleClick cookie and the Google Advertising ID — enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
• Third-party advertising vendors and ad networks may also serve ads here. They may likewise use cookies, web beacons, pixels and similar technologies to measure ad performance and to choose which ad to show. Those vendors set and read their own cookies under their own privacy policies, which GridComfort does not control.
• Advertising technologies may collect or receive your IP address, device and browser information, general location, and which pages you viewed on this site, and may combine it with data they hold from other sites.

Personalized and non-personalized advertising

Personalized advertising uses information about your past browsing to choose which ads to show you. Non-personalized advertising uses only the content of the page you are on and coarse signals such as your approximate location, and is not based on a profile of your past behaviour — though it still uses cookies or similar technology for frequency capping, aggregated reporting and fraud prevention.

Where the law requires it, and where a consent mechanism is in place, you would be asked to choose between them before any advertising cookie is set, and you would be able to change that choice later. Where personalized advertising is not permitted or not consented to, non-personalized advertising would be served instead.

Your choices

• You can turn personalized advertising from Google on or off, for any browser or signed-in device, at Google Ads Settings.
• You can opt out of personalized advertising from many other vendors at optout.aboutads.info (Digital Advertising Alliance) or optout.networkadvertising.org (Network Advertising Initiative), and in the EU at Your Online Choices.
• You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking them does not stop you reading anything here — the site is plain HTML and works without cookies or JavaScript.

Consent

The site does not currently show a cookie-consent banner, because it sets no cookies of its own and currently runs only the analytics described above. If advertising is enabled, a certified consent management platform will be used to collect and record consent where it is legally required — for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, and for visitors covered by US state privacy laws that grant an opt-out. Your recorded choice is passed to the advertising and analytics services so they can act on it.

Outbound links and affiliate links

Pages link out to manufacturer documentation, government sources, and to retailers — including Amazon affiliate links, which are marked in the page code and explained in the affiliate disclosure. Once you follow a link you are on that company's site, under its privacy policy, and GridComfort receives nothing about you beyond whether the click happened.

Server logs

The web server keeps standard access logs — IP address, user agent, requested page, timestamp — for security and operations. They are rotated on a normal schedule and are not used to build profiles of visitors.

Children

This site is written for adults maintaining home equipment. It is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

The date at the top of this page is when the policy itself last changed. If advertising is enabled, or a consent banner is added, this page is updated to describe it.
