A panel brand is not enough to choose an interlock kit — the family, the series number and the main-breaker frame decide it, and the manufacturers publish which combinations they support. Schneider Electric lists different kits for different QO and Homeline series and says outright that some series have no approved kit at all. Eaton selects by loadcenter catalog number and main-breaker family. ABB publishes exact catalog tables for its T-Series meter combos. Results carry one of three labels. Exact catalog match means the manufacturer names your catalog number in its own kit table. Family / series rule means the manufacturer documents the kit for the family and series you entered, without naming an individual unit. No manufacturer-verified match in this database means exactly that — and it is the honest answer, not a failure of the tool.
Where do you read the panel model and series?
Open the load-center door far enough to read the factory label and go no further: the dead front stays on, because removing it exposes live bus and line-side terminals. Write down the manufacturer, the catalog or model number, the series number and the main-breaker rating exactly as printed, including letters you might assume are decorative.
Schneider's own selection guidance makes the series number part of the compatibility decision for both QO and Homeline panels, which is why the finder asks for it separately from the catalog number. On an Eaton panel the deciding detail is usually the main-breaker family — CSR, CSH or BWH — printed on the breaker itself rather than on the loadcenter label.
Which kits does Square D publish for QO and Homeline?
Schneider Electric splits its residential interlocks by main-breaker frame first and by series second, and the ranges do not overlap: QOM1 covers 100–125 A mains and QOM2 covers 150–225 A. Outdoor enclosures take different part numbers from indoor ones even within the same family, and the back-fed generator breaker is capped at 125 A.

Two of those rows carry explicit exclusions, and the finder honours them: type one of those catalog numbers in and it returns the exclusion rather than the kit. A blanket recommendation of "the Square D interlock kit" is unsafe precisely because Schneider itself does not make one.
What does Eaton document for Type BR and CH panels?
Eaton publishes mechanical interlock kits as official loadcenter accessories and selects them by the main-breaker family in the panel. BRMIKCSR is documented for BR loadcenters with CSR or BWH mains up to 225 A, and CHMIKCSR for CH loadcenters at 225 A with CSR or CSH mains. Both are listed on Eaton's own product pages.
The BR loadcenters that take a Type BR main breaker are handled differently: Eaton maps those to BRMIKBR by exact loadcenter catalog number in a published PDF guide. Those rows are not in this database, so the finder shows the guide and asks you to confirm your catalog number there. It will not count that as a match, because expanding a manufacturer's guide by inference is the failure mode this page exists to avoid.
What does ABB publish for GE PowerMark and ReliaHome panels?
ABB, which now owns the GE residential line, documents two kinds of rule. Whole families are covered by main rating: PGENLCK12 for 100–125 A ReliaHome P-Series and P-Series+ load centers, PGENLCK22 for the 150–225 A versions and meter combos, and THQLLX1 for T-Series load centers at 150 A and above along with legacy PowerMark Gold.
Meter combinations are the opposite case. ABB's DET-458D data sheet lists them by exact catalog number — THQLLX4, THQLLX8FL and THQLLX8CU each cover a specific set of TSM, TSMF and TSMR numbers — so the finder will only return those on an exact match. If your catalog number is not on the list this database holds, the data sheet itself is linked in the result.
Why does this finder refuse to guess?
An interlock is part of the panel's transfer arrangement, not an accessory bolted near it. The plate has to coordinate with the positions and travel of the main breaker and the back-fed generator breaker so the two sources can never energise the bus at once, which makes compatibility a property of a specific load-center design rather than of a brand.
A third-party seller may list a kit by dimensions, by hole spacing or by how a panel looks in a photograph. This site does not treat any of that as manufacturer verification, and the finder is built so it cannot quietly slide from a near miss to a recommendation. Where the official tables establish nothing, no official match exists, and that is what you get told.

Will any interlock kit fit my panel if the brand matches?
No. Schneider publishes different kits for different QO and Homeline series and states that some series have no approved kit at all; Eaton selects by loadcenter catalog number and main-breaker family; ABB lists meter combos individually. Brand alone establishes nothing, which is why this finder asks for the series or catalog number before it returns anything.
What if the finder returns no verified match?
Then no official rule in this database covers your combination, and the right next step is the manufacturer's own selection document — the finder links it with every empty result. Your panel may have no approved kit, in which case a manual transfer switch is the documented route instead. Do not substitute a kit that merely looks close.
Are aftermarket interlock kits acceptable?
They are tested to the panel standard by independent labs, but that is the vendor's testing, not the panel maker's listing covering the combination, and acceptance varies by inspector. This finder returns manufacturer-documented kits only. If no OEM kit exists for your panel, ask the building department before buying anything.
Where is the series number on a Square D panel?
On the factory label inside the load-center door, printed near the catalog number — a short code such as S2 or G. It is not the same as the catalog number, and Schneider's compatibility tables turn on it. Enter it in the series field; case, spaces and hyphens are ignored, and nothing else is.
Does the interlock limit how large a generator breaker I can install?
Schneider caps the back-fed generator breaker at 125 A on the QO and Homeline kits listed here, and notes separately that the branch breaker cannot exceed the main's rating. The practical limit is usually far lower: it is set by the inlet, the cord and the portable generator's own output rather than by the plate.
