Midea portable AC error codes and guides

Midea documents its US portable air conditioner codes in its owner manuals and support FAQ; the pages below cover the codes verified against them so far.

Midea publishes a short, well-defined code set for its US portable air conditioners, and the distinction that matters is which entries an owner can act on. P1 is the one with a procedure: it means the bottom tray is full, and Midea's instruction is to drain the collected water away and restart the unit until the symbol disappears. It is a protection code rather than a fault — a float trips and the compressor stops so the pan cannot overflow — which is why a unit showing P1 is usually working correctly.

The rest of the set is E1 through E4: room, evaporator and condenser temperature sensor errors and a display-panel communication error. Midea gives owners no procedure for any of them; its documented answer is to contact Midea. Useful in the negative, too: Midea does not list E0, EC, F1 or F2 for its US portables, so a code in that form did not come from this set.

Midea's U-shaped window units are a different product on a different scheme — EH, EL, EC, PH, PL or PC followed by digits — and P1 is not in that manual.
